Guide for Submission Style for Thesis Writing

Guidelines for Authors

Bulletin of Special Education (BSE) is published three issues per year by the Department of Special Education, National Taiwan Normal University. It mainly provides a forum for researchers in special education or related fields to share research work and exchange ideas. The journal publishes original qualitative and quantitative research papers, either in Chinese or English.

Authors should submit manuscripts through the online submission and review system of BSE.

Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to BSE are subject to review by two or three reviewers. The process is anonymous in that the identity of authors and reviewers is not known to the other party. The review process usually takes at least four months, and authors are notified about status of the manuscript within six months following submission. Copies will not be returned to authors after reviewing.

In preparing manuscripts, authors should adhere to the guidelines specified in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. Authors should also comply with the following guidelines:

1.     Each manuscript should not exceed 7,500 words in length, including references.

2.     Each manuscript should contain an abstract not exceeding 600 words with five keywords or less, references, tables, or figures.

3.     Each manuscript should be typed single-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman font, on A4 paper, with at least 1-inch margins on all sides.

4.     Except for the web page of Author’s Information, authors are requested to upload full-paper file containing no clues to the author’s identity to ensure anonymity.

Copyright Assignment

Once a manuscript is accepted for publication, authors are asked to sign a Copyright Assignment and Agreement form conveying all rights for publication, including electronic rights, to BSE. Authors should guarantee that any part of the papers submitted has not been published or is not being reviewed concurrently by another journal. The Editor reserves the right to make editorial changes in accepted articles to make the article suitable for publication.
